The Work of The Grubb Institute UK
With Schools and Churches

It is with pleasure that I invite you to a presentation by Bruce Irvine, Executive Director of The Grubb Institute, UK. He will cover the institute’s unique approach to organizational consulting and leadership development and highlights of recent projects in the public arena. It will be held Thursday, September 21, 2006 from 2:00-4:00pm at First Presbyterian Church, 1101 Bedford Street, Stamford, Connecticut.

The Grubb Institute is world-renowned for its work in consulting, action research, and leadership development. Its approach embraces the social sciences and applied Christian theology and its clients come from across all sectors: business, government, not-for-profit, and various faith traditions. Recent consulting projects include:

Every Child Matters – The Grubb Institute created the evidence base for the latest children’s legislative framework for the UK. This child-centered approach is designed to enable national outcomes for all children to be achieved. The Institute is now involved with three local authorities in a whole system transformation of children’s services.

International Development Aid – The Grubb worked with SIDA, the Swedish government agency for civil society and developmental aid, to transform the preparation program for people being sent on international mission. Their aim was to see a shift from relationships of dependence to ones of interdependence.

Mission in the 21 Century – The Institute designed and delivered a process whereby two large Religious Orders explored the changing patterns of vocation across the globe and begin planning for the succession of leadership from France and Ireland, where they were founded, to Africa.

The Grubb develops leadership development programs that are delivered in a range of ways. One is The Leadership Development Program for Heads of International Organizations. Another recent example is a program for the top 40 leaders of the largest hospital in the UK, which resulted in the participants taking up leadership in the transformation of service delivery.

The best known of their Experiential Learning Programs is Transforming Clergy Roles that has been perfected over a 25 year period and is regularly oversubscribed.
